NEXTGEN TV, also known as ATSC 3.0, is making its debut in San Antonio and South Central Texas, promising to revolutionize the way viewers consume television. This advanced broadcast technology offers a host of new features including improved picture quality with 4K resolution, enhanced audio clarity, and interactive content, all delivered over-the-air.

One of the most significant advantages of NEXTGEN TV is its hybrid content delivery model, which integrates traditional broadcast signals with broadband to provide more robust, internet-like services directly through the TV. This includes customized news feeds, on-demand video, and enhanced emergency alerts.

KSAT plans to broadcast a NextGen signal on May 6, 2024. The introduction of NEXTGEN TV not only enhances viewer experience but also provides advertisers with targeted advertising opportunities and gives broadcasters the tools to deliver more personalized content, potentially transforming the local media landscape.

Here's what you need to know about NEXTGEN TV in San Antonio and South Central Texas:

  • Find “Menu” or “Settings” on your TV remote
  • Select “General” or “set up”
  • Select ”channels” or “channel tuning”

  • If you already have a NEXTGEN ready TV and use an antenna, you will need to rescan to pick up NEXTGEN TV as well as our original 1.0 broadcast.
  • Connect your Smart TV to your Internet
  • Be sure to download the KSAT App once you receive our channels.

Ready to Buy

  • If you are ready to buy a new TV look for the NEXTGEN TV logo on the box. At this time, most new Sony TV’s are NEXTGEN ready. There are some Samsung, LG, Hisense and TCL tv’s also available. You may have to search on the internet to find specific models.
  • External NextGen tuners are limited at this time but we anticipate this to change as the broadcasters roll out this new format. ADTH, Zinwell and Zapperbox are a few that we are currently testing.
  • You do not need a new antenna, we do recommend an outdoor antenna for best reception. Flat panel antennas are not recommended as they are not optimized for VHF reception.
